I received a call from one of our customers yesterday, she lives in Utah. While she was placing her order she told me her 40 something assistant was stricken by the flu. She was home and received a text from her assistant the evening before saying she was going to bed and would call in the morning. Well, when the morning came the assistants teen age daughter found her dead in her bed. It was the flu, the threat is real.
So far we have been well here at the Co-op, the flu has skipped us. The things the CDC recommends we have been doing like regularly wash your hands in hot water or use alcohol based wipes, and when you are out and about avoid touching your face, eyes, and mouth until you get back home and disinfect your hands properly.
If you are unlucky enough to contract the flu drink plenty of clear liquids, seems dehydration is a major problem with this virus, if someone in your home has the flu put them to bed and keep them away from the rest of the family, that may not be an easy task. Be sure to regularly disinfect doorknobs, light switches, handles, bathroom fixtures, and wash the dishes in hot soapy water or a dishwasher.
This is a nasty year for flu, if you feel it coming on get to your doctor. The hospitals are overwhelmed with patients and some hospitals are even turning patients away because of over crowding.
