Getting paid for doing what you love...

I got my first paycheck from the yoga studio I am teaching with.  Finally, after all these years I got paid for doing something I love.

Don’t get me wrong I like working at the Co-op, our members bring me a huge amount of joy and satisfaction when we can solve a problem or help guide them to a solution.  I love the people I work with.  Stephen and I have worked together for 25 years; I would be lost without him in my life.

This is different.  Yoga has allowed me to channel my passion of people, spirituality, and wellness into a hands on experience of making a positive impression in someone’s life if only for an hour at a time.  For the first time I have worked diligently and with one pointed focus to offer something that I would do for free.

I love the class I am teaching because it is Yoga Basics which means I can teach anything that resonates with a new student to yoga. With yoga having a history of thousands of years I am not in danger of running out of material any time soon.

When we come to the end of a practice I am filled with gratitude and a love for my students and the practice of yoga.  I evaluate what I could have done differently and then start thinking about my next class.

If you are ever in the area and wish to participate in a Saturday yoga class I just might see you there, I could be the one at the front of the room offering suggestions on relaxation, stretching, and thoughts from the yoga sutras.

Do you get paid for doing what you love?

God Bless,
