Tulips, Amaryllis, and lilies.

We don't get tulips here in South Florida.  Which is sort of sad.

I remember joyfully the spring tulips coming up when I was a child.  One lady had many bulbs planted in her entire yard.  When spring would come her entire front yard would come alive with crocus, tulips, hyacinths, and daffodils when the flowers started looking tired she got out her lawn mower and put them back to sleep for the season.

Amaryllis and lilies are as close as we come to the spring bulb flowers of the cooler states.

One day Zac, my old golden retriever, and I were walking around the block and we went past a home with vegetation for the town to pick up.  On the very top of the pile was a single bulb.  At the time I didn't know what it was although I was excited to see what it would bring.  I took it home and planted it and the following year this lily came up.  It has been many years ago and now I have them everywhere and just love the color they add to the yard.  The bottom picture is what the mystery bulb delivers each year.

Wishing you a beautiful spring!!
