No Good Deed Goes Unpunished

My friend Stewart, some of you know him as Dr. Jon, used to say, “No good deed goes unpunished.” There are days it rings true.  This was  one of them.
Harley has been in the hospital for the last few days with a staph infection in his knee, but that is another story.  He was due to be released on Sunday and in my concern for him to follow doctors’ orders and sit back and do nothing I decided to mow the lawn.
Things were going brilliantly, I found the gas and filled the mower up, started it up, pushed it around our tiny yard, that's when the trouble started.
The handle of the lawn mower has a hinge that allows the mower to take up less room when stored.  I didn’t notice my finger in jeopardy of being severely pinched until it was too late. OUCH!!  I jumped up and down, put ice on my finger but it was too late the damage was done.  It was black before I even reached for the door knob to the kitchen.
I am hoping not to have to run the mower again soon.  If I do you can bet I will be noticing the hinge and staying well away from the bite.
Lesson learned.
