New BP Machine

We were at the store today looking at the home blood pressure machines.  Our old one had stopped working and we like to stay current with our readings.

As we discussed the features of the different machines we hadn't noticed a lady watching us ,she asked, “Why are two skinny people concerned about their blood pressure?”

At first I was surprised, she was serious.  I guess she didn’t know high blood pressure impacts 900 million people on our planet.  Scary.

We don’t take any medications, but for people that take medications this is can be a first indicator that something is amiss.

The American Heart Association reports 74.5 million people in the United States over 20 have high blood pressure.

  • High blood pressure can lead to stroke by weakening blood vessels in the brain.
  • The extra pressure may permanently impair vision by weakening blood vessels in the eyes.
  • Kidneys filter waste produced by our bodies over time this can cause vessels to narrow slowing and in extreme situations stopping the filtering process.
  • I don’t even have to mention heart problems including angina, congestive heart failure and heart attack.
From our heart to yours, be well, and monitor your blood pressure.
