Set them up to succeed

I have a long standing motto, if you are going to set someone up set them up to succeed.

A friend of mine told me of an experience that happened to him while he was married to his ex wife.  He said, “One year I forgot Beth’s birthday, and the day after she said very sarcastically, thanks for the birthday gift, I felt like a deer caught in the headlights!"  He went on to tell me how bad he felt and every year after that Beth brought up the fact he had forgotten. The event took a day of celebration and turned it into an emotional reprimand every year.

Since hearing that story I make sure the people in my life know when special days or events are coming up far enough in advance they are prepared.  I do this with Harley, friends, and my family.

Set them up to succeed and you won’t be disappointed either.
