Lesson 1 on the Dirt bike

Teri on XL175
We have always gone dirt biking here at the cabin.  The difference now is Harley got a larger bike for himself and I am getting the XL175 to ride my self.

That is all fine and dandy but I have not ridden by my self in years, and then it was only a minibike, so today I start my lessons.   Harley is a patient teacher, sensitive to my safety concerns, and wish to catch on quickly and do well.

Here at the top of Trail Tree Ridge there are only three more houses to the top of the hill so we don’t get any through traffic.  This will make the lessons easier.  My first task is to ride out of our drive up to BJ’s, around her circular drive and back with out wrecking shifting from 1st to 2nd gear.  Ta Da success.  Of course, on the inside, I am hanging on worrying I am going to loose the bike and it will take off without me, it happens, just watch the kids on motocross.  I obviously worry too much.

Next we ride up to the end of the road and back still doing well.  Next we go off the hill and down the newly paved Squirrel Hunting Road.

I stall the bike a couple of time, turning is a task, and fishtailing on the gravel is problematic.  Tomorrow is another day to work on these new skills.  This was a lot of fun, I am ready for more.

Namaste,
Teri
