Breathe in
One of our greatest gifts is the power of breath.  When I wake up an important part of my morning preparation is intentional breathing.

Practicing breathing may sound silly; we all know how to breathe.  Practicing breathing deep full breaths trains you to breathe deeper throughout your entire day.  Give it a try this is a short practice, the quality of breath is a direct reflection of how you feel.

I stand with my shoulders hip distance apart and inhale visualizing my lungs rejoicing that they are waking expanding with life giving oxygen.

Next, I intentionally exhale slowly pushing every bit of breathe I can expel with the intention of ridding my lungs of any stale air that has collected from a nights rest and stillness.

Relax set your intention

I do these repetitions for at least one minute then I pause with one hand on my chest and one hand on my abdomen feeling the flow of breath.  Notice how this opens your ribs and lower back, feel your tummy expanding as you inhale.  As you exhale notice your body relaxing, as you release your breathe your shoulders will drop away from your ears and you will feel more calm.

Take another moment to relax and set your intention for the day.  This thought can give you something to refocus on if your day starts to get hectic.
