My friend, Larry

I got to spend some time with my friend Larry on Saturday.

Larry is a gentle soul; he has had to grow into that description as his life has been peppered with rough decisions.  One of those choices was to live his life as a smoker.

Larry was a smoker when we first met.  The demons in cigarettes possessed him.  He tried on many occasions to put the pack down but addiction is a demon.

Finally, he was ready to quit and finally was successful.  Sadly not long after that he was diagnosed with lung cancer.

Larry is now in a serious battle for his life.

One of his biggest concerns is he will not be here to enjoy his first grand child the baby arrives the beginning of the year.

Larry is tired.  He is much thinner than the last time I saw him, a few weeks ago.  The chemo has taken his hair, he is tethered to an oxygen tank, he can’t go outside on windy days as the breeze takes his breath away.

If you have room in your prayers please include my friend and continue to pass on the news, smoking still kills people we love.
